The Venuses
Seven large scale paintings as allegories of womanhood throughout the Peninsula Paris
For Pink October, the Peninsula Paris asked me to inhabit their lobby and restaurant. A cause close to my heart, to fight breast cancer and take care of the patients.
I had a vision of a decors matching with the scale of the beautiful interiors space of the Peninsula and to draw inspiration from female artists, far from the male gaze. I painted seven larger-than-life Venuses, channeling Artemisia Gentileschi, Berthe Morissot, and Suzanne Valondon. They embody the strength of Women, some had a Mastectomy, a chimotherapy, they are all together, unfied and caring for one another.
They are allegories of womanhood, playing with the pink ribbon and the neoclassical pilasters. They float like a breeze, woven into the architecture. All the Venuses are handpainted both sides like paper stained glass.
